I think all of us had learned [forced to learn :) ] mathematics, right?
I never liked mathematics right from my schooling, till my Post Graduation. I never knew why I am learning it. I was just forced to learn it in my childhood, till plus two standard. I never knew why I am learning it.
But I asked many people regarding that. I got several answers also. One said, it is just to improve your aptitude, in turn it will help you to decide or calculate things fast in your life. Another one was these integration and all are very much useful for calculating mechanical stuffs and physics guys, those are involved with manufacturing buildings and all. and a few more.
Yea, all of them were true(according to those answered me). But, till plus two and all are its ok. We are learning very basics there. But the doubt still I am having is, Why a guy who is doing his post graduation in Software Engineering should learn all these integration and diffferentiation?
The question being unanswered...:)

I just wonder with our education system,still people follow the same, but y cant they change it. im not enemy to mathematics. my question is, can you apply algebra in supermarket or in any other practial life. its purely wasting time and energy. better learn things which suites for real life,and get going.

How many of you type google every day ?? how many of you use altavista for search these days.. I know that I sound irrelevant, but there is something related to mathematics.. The finest algorithms used by google are more mathematically perfectly designed than altavista and any other search engine in this world... And Ram, your question was why we r learning maths stuff in computer science ?? If you were learning BCA, it's okey if you don't have mathematics... But to become a Computer Scientist you need mathematics a lot (Think about computer gaming or Theory of computation - the science behind computer language). The only thing why we hate the subject is because of the Teachers. They SUCKS... They come to teaching because they don't get any other job and they don't have vision. What we need to do is we need to encourage kids, so that their creativity gets improved and we need to let them make mistakes so that original ideas will come up. But our current systems and its ---king teachers always want everything perfect and slowly with time progressing our kids are loosing their natural creativity and original ideas... What we need to do is we need to form a community of young and visioned people and we can try to make change as much as possible...
Yea, in algorithms and analysis of DS etc, we need mathematics.. But I think we require basic maths there..in networking and all..
But why should we learn all these complex integration differentiation and all?
Quite boring all of them.. May be Deepak said it correct, it is because of the teacher..
But math teaches one thing,
PRACTICE MAKES A MAN PERFECT :)
